Planners with coupons tailored to specific regions across Norway, offering several dozen variations for advertisers’ preferences in each area

In a collaborative effort with our partner from Norway, we embarked on an ambitious project to produce nearly 200,000 student planners, customised to several dozen specific areas of Norway. These planners featured a combination of writing sections, coupons, and individualised advertisements for the specific region, creating a diverse and personalised experience for students.

Comprehensive planner structure
The student planners were ingeniously designed with dual functionality – a section dedicated to writing and planning and a segment housing regional-specific coupons. This blend of practicality and engagement aimed to enhance the daily lives of students while providing opportunities for local businesses to connect with their target audience. In many of the planners, there was also an additional section for a local educational partner, which made this project even more personalised and complicated.

Strategic printing technologies
To bring this vision to life, we used multiple printing technologies. The writing sections of the planner, including multiple variants of the advertising, were produced using our rotary offset printing system (web heatset offset presses), ensuring the high quality and fast production of the many individualised local versions. For the local educational additional sections and area-specific coupons versions, we used our Heidelberg sheet-fed presses, also utilising their ability to perforate and UV varnish in one production process.

Barcodes and quality control
With so many individualised local versions of this planner, advertisements and coupons, the strategic placement of barcodes in the spine allowed us to implement a robust quality control process. During the binding phase, our finishing machines meticulously verified the accuracy of each section of the planner, ensuring that the unique components, from localised advertisements to city-specific coupons, were flawlessly assembled for each version.

Perforation excellence
The coupons, integral to the planner’s interactive features, were not only printed but also perforated for easy use. Leveraging Heidelberg sheet-fed printers, we executed precise perforations that facilitated a seamless tear-off experience for students looking to redeem exclusive offers.

Managing the production and delivery of nearly 200,000 planners demanded a robust logistics system. From prepress to printing, binding, and distribution, our logistics team executed each step to guarantee timely delivery of the customised planners to their respective destinations. The production of these almost regionally personalised student planners exemplifies Elanders’ commitment to printing passion and complicated projects. The integration of localised advertisements, city-specific coupons, and the strategic use of barcodes showcases our ability to navigate complex projects seamlessly.
